At COR, we’ve been talking a lot recently about feminine lineage, and how certain traits get passed down through our mothers and grandmothers to express themselves in our own lives.
We inherit so many fundamental aspects of ourselves from our families, and in many cases, these traits are positive things that we admire in our family members and are proud to see in ourselves. For example, I know that my generosity is something I inherited and learned from my own mother, who is one of the most generous people I’ve ever met. However, I also know that there are some shadow components of my mother that I’ve inherited, which I need to acknowledge and heal in my own life.
I personally feel very moved by this conversation because I am now 51 years old, which is around the same age that my grandmother was when she passed away.
There’s something about seeing women doing our work to heal that is very powerful to me, and it’s something that I’m committed to in my own life. That’s actually why I’m a facilitator with COR. We take all our participants through a deep inner journey to really explore their inner selves and seek out what shadow components they may have and not realize.
I’m committed to doing this deep work not just for myself, but so that I can help others too.
You decide your own healing path
We cannot choose which traits we inherit from our families, but we can decide what we do with them.
I want to invite all the women out there to look at yourselves and discover where you can see the same patterns or habits from your mothers and grandmothers showing up in your own lives. Maybe you’re already aware of some of these things, but there are probably some additional things buried beneath the surface, in some shadowy corner, that you’ve not yet realized are there.
I invite you to sit with those traits and try to discover in which ways they have a positive effect on your life, and where they may show up negatively.
This is difficult work to do alone, and through my own work I know that it can be much easier to get started when you’re supported by others doing the same work.
We have an amazing opportunity to experience this coming up at COR: our Women’s Immersion Weekend, taking place entirely online and from the comfort of your own home. It’s a powerful space for women to experience healing and be in sisterhood with each other. It’s an opportunity to nourish your soul, and to provide some sweet, tender feelings of companionship for yourself as a woman.
Your feminine lineage is a shared experience
I like to think about how proud my family would be of me and what I’m doing with my life. I’m so grateful for the closeness I share with my mother, whom I consider to be one of my best friends, and I know we are so close because of this bond we share, and because of the work each of us has done to heal from our inherited shadow components. And even though I haven’t seen my grandmother in many, many years, I know that she’s with me, too.
Our feminine lineage comes with its shadows and hidden challenges, but there are wonderful aspects of it too. It’s a beautiful journey to be able to share with each other.
